Attitudes, Values and Behaviours

At Usk Church in Wales Primary School we strive to create a school community that is ACE (Adverse Childhood Experience) aware and trauma informed. This approach is embodied by our aspiration to build a nurturing, caring ethos which permeates our church school environment. We have developed an approach that promotes behaviour regulation and places relationships as the cornerstone for children to thrive, both academically and in relation to their wellbeing.

We believe in the potential for all to succeed and work hard to understand and remove barriers to learning. Meeting the needs of all learners is central to our vision and we plan learning and transition based on our knowledge of each individual pupil. 

• Ensure that all members of the school community feel safe.

• Encourage relationships between all members of the school community that facilitate effective learning.

• Guide children to develop a strong sense of morality that allows them to take on board the thoughts and feelings of others.

• Teach children how to communicate their thoughts and feelings in a way that would be beneficial in their adulthood.
