Brian Strong, Monmouthshire Local Authority Governor.
I am an LA Governor for Usk Church in Wales Primary School, born, and brought up in Caerleon, educated there and then Monmouth. My association with Usk goes back to 1962 when playing cricket for the town. I married my wife Mary six years later and we have a son, Tim who also lives in Usk with his wife Claire and their two sons, and a daughter Sally who lives in Newport with her partner Adam and their newborn son.
I worked for Cashmores in engineering until 1983, when redundancy motivated me to start my own business which I ran until 1999. I am a committed member of Usk Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for some years. I have been Chairman of the Usk Conservative Club since 1999, and also the Usk Conservative Branch for many years. Having lived in Usk for 40 years, I am extremely honoured to be a member of Usk Town Council and served as Mayor in 2002 -03. I have always been a keen sportsman and continue to take a keen interest in the sporting activities of the tow, especially as my grandsons now belong to some of the junior clubs.
