Peter Clarke, Monmouthshire Local Authority Governor

Mr Peter Clarke, Monmouthshire LEA Governor I am the County Councillor for the Llangibby Fawr ward of Monmouthshire County Council. I live at ‘Beeches’ in Woodside my home for the last ten years. As proprietor of the Glen-Yr Afon House Hotel I have a very business life and juggle my role as county councillor around my hotel activities. As well as being on the Usk Primary School governing body I also sit on Caerleon Comprehensive School governing body. This is extremely useful as Usk School is one of only six official feeder schools to Caerleon. In my spare time I sit on the Gwent Police Authority as the member for Monmouthshire – a post I have held for the last seven years. I enjoy skiing, walking and swimming. Living in Woodside I have been a member of Llanbadoc Community Council for 31 years. This keeps me abreast of local matters and more able to take note of peoples’ worries and frustrations. For relaxation my wife and I take the occasional holiday, we love travelling and would like to see more of this country and the wider world.
 

Brian Strong, Monmouthshire Local Authority Governor.

I am an LA Governor for Usk Church in Wales Primary School, born, and brought up in Caerleon, educated there and then Monmouth. My association with Usk goes back to 1962 when playing cricket for the town. I married my wife Mary six years later and we have a son, Tim who also lives in Usk with his wife Claire and their two sons, and a daughter Sally who lives in Newport with her partner Adam and their newborn son. I worked for Cashmores in engineering until 1983, when redundancy motivated me to start my own business which I ran until 1999. I am a committed member of Usk Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for some years. I have been Chairman of the Usk Conservative Club since 1999, and also the Usk Conservative Branch for many years. Having lived in Usk for 40 years, I am extremely honoured to be a member of Usk Town Council and served as Mayor in 2002 -03. I have always been a keen sportsman and continue to take a keen interest in the sporting activities of the tow, especially as my grandsons now belong to some of the junior clubs.
